Formed in 2001 after a meeting between Porcupine Tree
frontman/producer Steven Wilson & Israeli singer/songwriter
Aviv Geffen, the partnership blossomed into a cross-cultural
collaboration as an exceptional new duo, Blackfield.
Now, following a series of new recording sessions in Israel
and the UK between February-June 2006, the two have
reunited for the hypnotic Blackfield II, a collection of rich,
melancholy-tinged rock songs, produced by Wilson himself.
For a good example of the pair’s atmospheric melodies
coupled with witty lyrics, check out “Christenings”, a song
about a chance meeting in a record store of a former star
(with echoes of Syd Barrett).
Aviv Geffen is a highly successful solo artist and outspoken
peace campaigner, and has a string of gold albums in Israel.
Spanning five years of recordings and concerts in Tel Aviv
and London, Blackfield has released one prior album and
several well-received singles on Helicon/Universal in Europe,
Israel and the US, garnering a major #1 radio hit across
Europe in 2004, as well as a dedicated fan base in the US.
Blackfield will perform in select cities in the US in March 2007.
