the story
God
Forbid. You know the band. You’ve probably seen them
on Ozzfest or MTV’s Headbanger’s Ball (or the subsequent
tour) or out on the road with Opeth, Lamb of God, Atreyu, Meshuggah,
Hatebreed or countless other metal/hardcore bands. You’ve
seen them grace the covers of national magazines, you’ve
heard them on the radio, hell, you probably shared a drink
with them at the bar after one of their shows. You probably
know everything there is to know about them, right? Well, do
you know their early days?
Out of Misery was the first CD the band ever recorded. Originally
released as an EP on 9 Volt Records back in 1998, Out of Misery
showcases the band’s humble roots as young teenagers
eager to combine their love of Bay Area thrash, melodic death
metal and hardcore breakdowns. Tracks like Mind Eraser and
Nosferatu helped pave the way for the legions of US metal bands
popular today.
Originally reissued by We Put Out Records 4 years ago, it’s
back on the shelves after a long hiatus. With 5 bonus live
tracks added, including the crushing fan favorite ‘Reject
The Sickness’ and a cover of Sepultura’s ‘Propaganda,’ Out
of Misery proves God Forbid are the leaders, not the followers,
of today’s current metal trend.
